Hangin’ Around with Trapeze Federation

I’ve been to the circus and seen Cirque du Soleil shows but what really got me amped about circus arts was Pink’s 2010 Grammy performance. It was then that I vowed to learn silks but little did I know, the trapeze would really become my circus talent of choice. Fast forward to this year and me experiencing a trapeze class for Attractions – The Show. I was a little nervous, mostly because of the height situation, but excited to be learning a new performance art. It took a little getting used to but by the end of the class I was doing some pretty awesome tricks like hanging upside down and swinging on someone else’s hands. The staff at Trapeze Federation was incredible that day. They know all the right things to say to help you succeed and have fun.

Around 17:30 in this episode of Attractions – The Show, you can see my first lesson at Trapeze Federation. I overcome my life-long fear of doing a backflip and really feel like I accomplished something.

My Second Class
I liked it so much that I went back for a second shot. I had to when they said I would be working on an upside down split! I gave it a try last week and while I didn’t master that trick, I got close and enjoyed swinging in the air again. I did familiar tricks from my first time too. Like any other performance art or physical activity, there is a technique that helps you succeed but anyone can do it. Upper body strength doesn’t live here and yet.. I was able to do it. The staff has cues they call out to tell you exactly what to do and when to do it. I couldn’t have taken on such a daring new hobby without the encouragement of the Trapeze Federation team, and my friends Matt & Banks at Attractions!
