Argh, it’s the time of year to try and think of a cute costume again. I wasn’t ready to commit to a big number but wanted to dress up for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World. This pirate costume was perfect for the occasion. I found this light and stretchy costume for an amazing price and just had to share it. Read on, me hearties, yo ho.
Pirate Costume for Disney Review: Comfortable, Easy to Pack, Lightweight
This pirate costume is super light and easy to put on. When the Halloween parties start in August, it’s still very hot in Florida. It’s perfect to wear around Magic Kingdom.
This costume is a sea breeze to travel with. The material folds easily and it takes up hardly any room in a suitcase. It can also be smooshed. Suitcase sitters, unite!
Yo Ho, Yo Ho: What does it come with?
This pirate costume comes with four pieces:
- a red and black striped pirate head tie
- a white off the shoulder top with thin straps
- a red and black striped skirt
- a velcro belt with matching embellishments on it
When I bought it, it also came with a cute little sword that would be great for parties and events. It doesn’t say it comes with that now.
How does this pirate costume fit? I made this adjustment
When I ordered this, the XL was the right size. The XL is suggested for sizes 14-16. The material itself is stretchy. I’m 5’8 and was an athletic 200ish pounds when I bought this.
Measurements for the XL are chest 44″, waist 31.5″ and hips 45″ but I think the 14 to 16 size range is a more accurate description for the actual fit.
The head tie, skirt and top were all ready to go and would stretch to fit a range of sizes. The belt is a different story. Here’s how I fixed it.
The wrap around midsection piece was velcro and essentially would only fit perfectly on a smaller waist measurement range. It was slightly too small for me so what I did for myself was use a hole puncher to create a set of holes on each side of the velcro. Then I laced it with black ribbon to make my own corset in the back. Super easy fix and I’ll remember this for Halloween costumes in the future. You could also just pair this with a different belt or none at all.
I think you’ll love this costume if you’re looking for something cute and easy that won’t be too hot outside at Disney or anywhere else. I like that it’s stretchy and would fit me in a range of sizes. It’s still comfortable after a big meal or a when you’re doing a lot of walking. If you like to wear shorts under a skirt, you can definitely do that with this one.

Mickey’s Not So Scary Costume Ideas: Pirate Costumes for the Whole Family
Consider the ease of the whole family or group being pirates at the Magic Kingdom Halloween party. Everyone can do their own thing but you’re all still coordinating. Matching costumes can be tricky but pirates all around is super easy and fits right in at Disney.

Disney Cruise Line Pirate Night is a fleet wide experience with offerings varying by ship. If you’re planning to be a pirate in the Caribbean, this will take up just a little bit of room in the suitcase. You can always purchase a hat, or pirate Minnie ears, to dress it up differently.
I’ll definitely be saving this for my next Disney Cruise. Taking up less room in the suitcase is always a win. The stretchy waist is also practical for cruising.
