Monsters University Review – 6 Things You’ll Love

Monsters University Mike & SullyIn this Monsters University review I’ll chat about a few things that wowed me from the movie that I think you’ll love too.

Mike Wazowski’s Optimism
In Monsters, Inc. we repeatedly see Mike in situations that would usually be taken as an insult. He always sees the silver lining and it becomes the joke of his character and continues on in this movie. Wazowski is an excellent cheerleader, always believing the best will happen. Countless times throughout this film, his optimism is the hero.

Monsters University Oozma Kappa

Oozma Kappa
It’s not so much this actual fraternity that you’ll love but more so the personalities of the guys in it. I always love it when there’s a hippie character. Me and the purple guy would be pals.

The Sound
The music is a fantastic combination of that original jazzy style style we know from Monsters, Inc. and a snazzy college drum line. The two sounds infused form a fun, energetic score that I can’t stop humming around the house.

The Underdog Story
It’s unpredictable and there are surprises. It’s really a journey for us to see how Mike and Sully became who they are. Their back story doesn’t take a traditional route and we see many underdogs pave their way with hard work and dedication. I really admire how Mike and Sully got the jobs we know them for which you’ll see at the very end of the movie.

Monsters University Young Mike Wazowski

Little Mike
In this film, we meet Mike Wazowski as a kid. I never thought anyone would out do Boo on the cuteness scale but.. I’ll let you be the judge once you see (and hear!) little Mike.

Before & After
I love that Pixar always has a gem before and after the movie. It’s like mom slipped an extra snack in the lunch box. Stay after the credits for a little extra funny. The Pixar short before Monsters U. is called The Blue Umbrella. Per the usual, it’s beautiful, brilliant, heart-warming and humorous. Pixar shorts always hit it home and this one is no exception. After seeing one of these mini-movies I always look at things a little differently. Thanks, Pixar.THE BLUE UMBRELLA

OMG, I was a little bit weary of watching this as I always find Pixar sequels to be a bit of a hit and Miss except for Toy Story 3, which was actually the first movie of the trilogy I had watched with my older sister. I have already fallen in love what the character of Art – Hippie and my favourite colour :D.

I am now looking forward to watching this movie with my sister when she comes back from her short holiday, I promised her I would wait the extra 5 days till she came back so we could go together.

Thanks for the reassurance of what I am sure is now going to be a Pixar classic 🙂
