Disclosure: I was invited to experience Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
I made the choice to start eating a mostly plant based diet in the beginning of the summer this year. It was an easy transition for me and I have so enjoyed discovering delicious vegan dishes around Walt Disney World. Though I don’t deprive myself if I want a chicken finger, a big old bag of traditional candy hanging around my house would be too much and too tempting. I was thrilled at the thought of trick or treating vegan style at my favorite Halloween event of the year. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party has allergy-friendly treats and an easy system for trick or treating that keeps it fun and festive. Fortunately food allergies aren’t something I’ve had to worry about but eating a plant-based diet has been a very positive part of my life. I’ve come to know new brands of food from it and was so excited to see some of my favorite vegan treats offered at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Allergy Trick or Treating
In the beginning of the night, we picked up special bags for trick or treating at Town Square Theater just inside Magic Kingdom. This is the same building you meet Mickey Mouse in for reference. There was a teal sign out front, this color will be your best friend all night, and a Cast Member inside got our bags started with delicious goodies to suit our needs. I never felt like I was missing out on anything during this whole experience! We trick or treated at the spots around the kingdom but instead of getting candy on the spot we got teal tokens we would be able to cash in at the end of the night. I feel like this is a great system for parents concerned their child may get something they can’t have. The tokens allow those with allergies or special dietary needs to trick or treat like everyone else but take out confusion or worry.
My husband pointed out that the allergy-friendly trick or treat bags they gave us were the same kind of distinct teal color as the Enjoy Life Foods branding. While cashing in our tokens in Liberty Square we noticed the company is a sponsor which made a lot of sense. I was impressed with the options we had to choose from and how we got to choose exactly what we wanted. I ended up with multiple kinds of Enjoy Life Foods cookies and chocolates and some gummy worms and gummy bears from another brand. Avoiding GMOs is even more important to me than eating vegan and it was easy to do that here. My treat haul was very generous considering we only made three stops. Disney put together a sheet with everything you need to know to feel confident your food is safe for you and meets your needs. The Cast Member that helped us knew her stuff.
If you have a little one you’re nervous about trick or treating with, I can’t imagine a better way to do it. Walt Disney World is so incredibly accommodating when it comes to special dietary needs and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party makes trick or treating a safe and fun custom treat experience for those with allergies. Guests are able to pick not only something they are able to eat but something they’re excited to eat.
