You know that feeling when you’re in a Disney Park just before it closes and you just walk on that last ride with no wait? There’s hardly anyone around. You can see things you wouldn’t see if the park was full and hear sounds that are lost among the crowds. Well. What if there was a way to visit a Disney Park with hardly anyone in it for a whole night? Disney After Hours is just that.
I experienced Disney After Hours at Magic Kingdom earlier this year and it was incredible. The event is a splurge at $125 but totally worth it. Last night I played at Disney After Hours at Animal Kingdom and it was true nature magic. A few years ago the park was transformed to be open later and ready for night time guests. The Tree of Life Awakenings welcomes you at night as the beautifully carved creatures seem to come alive and short projection shows happen at random. Pandora The World of Avatar is also delightfully lit at night but the real excitement at Disney After Hours is getting to ride Avatar Flight of Passage with no wait. We rode it twice! As much as I loved the rides, just being in the park when it’s so quiet and enjoying the incredible ambiance was such a highlight.
Attractions at Disney After Hours at Animal Kingdom
The following attractions are open during Disney After Hours at Animal Kingdom: Avatar Flight of Passage, Na’vi River Journey, Pandora Drummers – Swotu Wayä, Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, DINOSAUR, Rivers of Light, Tree of Life Awakenings, It’s Tough to be a Bug! and TriceraTop Spin. You can also get complimentary popcorn, ice cream and drinks throughout the park!
Guests with Disney After Hours tickets can enter the park an hour and a half before the event begins at 7:00 p.m. This would be a great time to take advantage of offerings that aren’t available at the party like restaurants for dinner or Kilimanjaro Safaris. Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members can get Disney After Hours tickets for $95 plus tax. Annual Passholders are able to purchase discount tickets for their guests.
