Upon visiting Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, it quickly became one of my favorite places at Walt Disney World. The splendid color that fills this place, the attention to detail and the familiar faces of beloved characters are what made it for me. If you’re looking for a lower cost hotel room at Walt Disney World look no further. Art of Animation features Cars, Finding Nemo or The Lion King themed family suites that have two bathrooms, a bedroom and sleep up to six and traditional sized rooms themed to The Little Mermaid. Art of Animation also has a great food court, Landscape of Flavors, with a make your own pasta bar and the Finding Nemo themed pool in the middle of the resort is super cute and actually the largest pool at Walt Disney World.
Another highlight of this resort is a long wall in the Art of Animation lobby that displays over 60 character renderings and sketches, showing them in order from creation to completion. Some of the characters are hardly recognizable in early versions that weren’t used in the actual films! I took the time to photograph each and every sketch on the wall. The Ariel ones are my favorite.
