I was thrilled to see my first show at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts! I went to the opening ceremony of the facility and was wowed by the design and fabulous interior. Slava’s Snowshow is a brilliant display of physical comedy. With many small and meaningful moments, the show is full of communication even without words. Slava and the other clowns in this show act out funny scenes and convey thought provoking ideas. I really appreciate clowning as an art form and the genre of silent, physical comedy. Anyone who feels the same will love this show. Excellent effects make Slava’s Snowshow exciting for everyone. I was blown away more than once by neat feats that interacted with the audience. If you want to be enveloped into the show, sit in the orchestra or at least on the bottom level. If I had to compare this show to something it would be the mime moments in certain Cirque du Soleil shows. Slava’s Snowshow will be at the Dr. Phillips Center February 17th through March 1st.
Note that the City Commons Parking Garage at 460 Boone Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801 is a great place to park when attending a show at the Dr. Phillips Center. I paid $10 to park there and was able to walk through a bridge on the third floor of the parking garage that takes you out just across the street from the venue. My favorite place to eat in downtown Orlando is Hamburger Mary’s and they offer 15% off of your bill if you are attending a show at the Dr. Phillips Center. Just show your tickets or a receipt to verify.
