This September marks the special anniversary of one year with Orlando Attractions Magazine The Show. I remember my first segment. I was thrilled to start hosting for The Show but there was one thing I didn’t think about.. it was scary season. Attractions covers all things fun in Orlando including events that make me want to crawl under the covers. But when show producer Matt asked me if I could cover a Halloween Horror Nights preview as my first segment, of course I said yes. It was my first offer! I was too excited to say no! I got an eerie makeover, interviewed some of the creative talent behind the event and.. then had to go through a haunted house. I really dropped the ball on this one. I used to go to this horrific event every year in high school and I loved it. As I got older something changed and now I– don’t love it. So when the time came to preview a house, I walked in, stepped, pivoted and walked out. Matt went ahead, recording the house and what should have been me getting scared left and right but I was too busy outside talking myself into doing it. So a few nice people and a PR guy eventually helped me through. Helped. As in let me cling on koala-style at some points. It was terrifying! Needless to say I was much happier to host segments once Christmas time came around.
I had a lot of fun during my first year with Orlando Attractions Magazine The Show. One of my favorite memories is the excellent fundraiser Attractions held at Downtown Disney’s Splitsville last week for Give Kids The World Village. Everyone involved help to raise over $20,000! I sure hope this becomes an annual event.
I’m very thankful to Jackie and Matt for having me on the team. Banks has also been such a pleasure to work with when he’s behind the camera, helping me to grow and do my very best.
