Avast, ye! When Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest hit theaters in 2006, I fell head over barnacles for the swashbuckling tale. Savvy? Okay, I’ve hit my pirate talk quota for the year but I did really have a thing for this movie though and still do today. So much so that a few years ago I was inspired to decorate a pirates themed bathroom. I went shopping at Nautical But Nice, a South Florida novelty shop filled with touristy Sunshine State goodies, and discovered some lovely finds. I painted an accent wall burgundy and the rest a sandy color and got towels to match. I also pulled together some things I had around the house, used some treasure from the Pirate & Princess party formerly held at the Magic Kingdom, and picked up a few crafty things from Michael’s to make a few decorative arrangements.
I bought a nautical net and cut it to go multiple places in the bathroom like above my mirror, behind a local artist’s painting I bought, and in some decorative pieces I put together. I used push pins to hang it. Easy peezy!
For this “message in a bottle” I placed a rolled up treasure map inside an empty wine bottle with some nautical net inside a glazed pot I already had.
For treasure I placed seashells, marbles, jewels, a “rum” bottle, and a piece I absolutely adore, my pirate skull, glitter-filled, snow globe, in a glass dish. I also adore this candle in a half coconut.
I thought this skull and crossbones flag was fun in my skylight along with these piratey signs.
I think the center pieces would also be great for parties or weddings.
Do you have any pirate decor in your home?
i LOVE this!! i definitely have a thing for pirates, too 🙂
