‘Does it get old when you live here?’ People ask me this question all the time. They wonder if becoming an Orlando resident dulls the magic. No, it doesn’t. Not for me at least. On a day full of work and errands, I squeezed lunch with a friend and a ride on Expedition Everest in at Animal Kingdom and then.. this was unexpectedly part of my day. I was casually driving along I-4 listening to This American Life on my way back from the vet with my dog when I saw two huge oversize load trucks in the slow lane. It was near exit 68, or Downtown Disney, and heading west. Blue. That familiar blue I know so well. And gray! WHAT! Yes, friends, the new Magic Kingdom turrets just made their way down I-4 to the Walt Disney World bubble. Since the announcement of the hub expansion we’ve seen a lot of changes including hub grass, walkways and fountains in what feels like the castle’s newly expanded courtyard. The finishing touches are these little actually huge beauties which I believe will top the new walls in front of the castle and complete the reimagining of the area. I think the view from Main Street will only get better as the castle appears to expand with these new parts installed. So, no, it doesn’t get old living in Orlando because you never know how magic will make its way into your everyday.
You can see where these turrets will be placed in this video from the Disney Parks Blog:
How exciting! I remember seeing the topiaries headed to EPCOT from western way or the Cruiseline buses pulling into the bus shop down the street from my house to get serviced. I agree, living here doesn’t kill the magic…. You just get to experience it in a new way!

That’s awesome, Christina! I like seeing these cool, different things. I love pics of MSEP on World Drive (I think) a few years back.
That is so cool! My dad works around the area selling tools and he goes to a shop that does all the repainting for disney and he’s seen everything from monorail cards to Cinderella’s carriage. Florida is definitely not a bad place to live 😉
Ahhh, that is so cool; I would have loved to see those floating their way down I4 to WDW! Now, can we talk about your use of taking pics on your cell phone while driving on I4?! LOL Kidding! Thank you for sharing these with us; can’t wait to walk in the kingdom when this is complete. Kari

Kari! LOL I’m 100% not proud of taking a photo while driving. It was right there in my purse side pocket and I instinctively grabbed it, swiped and snapped. Good photo, bad choice. :-/
When is this ment to be complete by? Thanks

Hello, I just happened to pass these on the highway. I don’t know anything about installation and such. 🙂
