Love Letter to Morris Mulch

Dearest Morris,

When I heard about Mulch Sweat n’ Shears ending their bandscaping days at Hollywood Studios, I couldn’t really believe it but the tears still fell. Many fans have a wonderful Mulch story to tell but mine is one of a kind. I knew I had to write you a little love letter.

After some drive-bys, I first really went to see the show in 2011. I fell in love with it. Later that same year, I fell in love with you. During that Christmas show in November, your Elvis ways and hysterical comedic antics gave me permanent heart eyes. When we had our first date on the Streets of America, the Osborne Lights twinkled below us like a million little signs pointing to yes.

I loved Valkyrie the Ice Man, Bernie Briquette the Villain tamer, a surfer, a monster; all the other random things over the years. Every New Year’s Eve, Fourth of July and Villains event show you did for an entire Park full of guests was certainly the most impressive. Watching you guys rock out live to the fireworks was AMAZING and provided an unparalleled experience for guests celebrating at Disney Parks. But then again, there were times you all performed under my beloved Sorcerer’s Hat and impressively attracted crowds of hundreds sitting on and surrounding the steps under the giant blue and starry accessory filled with magic. Sometimes while you weren’t even on the schedule! People know talent when they see it. Or hear it. The Disney Cast Service celebrations, runDisney races and after parties, private events at Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, Wide World of Sports; it sounds like you guys already booked that World tour you always wanted.

Mostly I love what I saw you do for people. Bringing laughter to countless families hurting various ways, entertaining guests who fled Israel for a break from war, seeing a recovering guest really move again for the first time, bringing out excitement in and catering to guests with disabilities, drawing fans to Walt Disney World from across the country just to see the show. These are just some people that told you how special you and the band are. Imagine all the other lives you touched over your nine years and the band’s eleven. Certainly over a million which is a very rare feat and a wonderful blessing. And remember when someone asked for you to host their Disney Wedding? Incredible.

There are a lot of songs a little past my time that are really Mulch Sweat n Shears songs to me since I don’t know the originals. There are a lot of lines and bits I laugh about even when I’m not at the show. I can quote much of the eightish (?) different shows you do. The best may be the show within a show you always do with yourself filled with tiny but powerful comedic nuances, guest interactions and improv bits.

My face has been officially rocked off more times than I can count. I have jingled the bells, shimmied the tambourine, tinged the cowbell (I think?) and rocked the blow up guitar with you like I was Pete Townshend. My favorite things to watch are your mesmerizing mic throwing, Sticks helicoptering the drumsticks and Axe dialing a solo on the guitar. My favorite things to hear are Sticks singing Any Way You Want It, you singing Olaf’s In Summer and Led Zeppelin from the Frozen medley, The Hedge singing Burning Down the House and Buzz singing the “they’ve all gone to look for America” line in the Rockin’ Fourth of July Celebration and Hey Jude. I’ll be there often between now and your final show on October 10th. Mulch Sweat n Shears 11th anniversary on October 8th should be pretty amazing and I’m glad I’ve been their to celebrate and enjoy the show so much.

I used to say it would be cool to have Mulch Sweat n Shears perform at my wedding. Well. Now I know you’ll be there. One at the altar, the rest on the guest list.

All my love,

Jingle Jane

P.S. I’ll never forget the little girl that came in the Mulch Sweat n Shears dress her mom made.  She was so excited to show you the dress and  I loved that it even had a little red and white ode to Morris on it.

Another P.S. I still can’t believe Liam from One Direction wanted to see  “the band” he remembered from holidays to Disney with his family when he was younger but couldn’t because his fans were swarming. I wish he could see Mulch Sweat n Shears one more time.
