Inside Out Review

Inside Out Review | SparklyEverAfter.comWhen Toy Story came out, I was a little girl. It was the beginning of a an animated dynasty. Disney Pixar hasn’t let us down since. With Inside Out, Disney Pixar brings us another colorful, character-filled classic. The world of Inside Out is much more vague and undiscovered but still relatable to many generations. Overall I’d call it an equal success to Toy Story in story telling. I cried at both Lava, the short before the film, and Inside Out. I laughed. I bonded with my boyfriend over this movie. But most of all, I celebrated that this is an original story.

Snow White, Cinderella and the rest of the classic fairytale gang are charming and wonderful. Films like these are the foundation of Disney movie success and why we love the company but they are tales retold and told again. Fresh faces and stories keep our imaginations running and guessing. We need more stories like Inside Out.
Inside Out Review | SparklyEverAfter.comInside Out is definitely great for the kids but as an adult (wait, am I an adult?) I related to this film on a deep and meaningful level. The importance of memories, loved ones and time are weaved into a bright and curious story. We’re pulled into a new universe within our own and I loved every second of exploring Pixar’s version of human minds. Michael Giacchino paints the air in audible perfection but at this point I didn’t expect anything less. The music of Inside Out moved me in an Up kind of way. Yes, it’s that good. There are some deep lessons I leveled with in Inside Out like how everything isn’t black and white. It’s ok to have mixed emotions. It also teaches us that it’s ok to experience different emotions and that’s something I struggle with. Joy is always the front runner in my life but it’s ok to let Sadness out too. Inside Out is so much more than just an animated film to decorate your summer with. It’s the perfect story to dig your feelings into and it will surely be admired for generations to come.Lava Review | SparklyEverAfter.comThe short before Inside Out is Lava. This emotional, musical tale is gorgeous and unique. It tells like a fable  and is an excellent appetizer for Disney’s upcoming Moana. I mean, it’s always a good time for anything Hawaiian feeling but now especially. Lava quickly became a favorite for me. As shown in the photo above, the characters are massive and so are the emotions. The story of Lava is actually quite simple especially when compared to other shorts like Feast. Sometimes simple is all you need. You will love Lava.

Disclosure: I attend press screenings for films from The Walt Disney Studios.
