We took an amazing trip to Northern California with friends this year and decided to add on a few days at the happiest place on earth. I didn’t realize Halloween Time at Disneyland would be in full swing. It was such a treat! I wouldn’t have gone out of my way to plan a visit at this time but I ended up really loving it. Especially the big Mickey pumpkin. I even made a Disneyland Mickey pumpkin carving stencil! The decorative vibe feels different than Walt Disney World and Magic Kingdom. Disneyland really does a lot for Halloween Time. These are a few of my favorite additions.
Haunted Mansion Holiday
Even guests who aren’t big into The Nightmare Before Christmas, like myself, will be absolutely dazzled by the details and complete transformation of this classic attraction. Haunted Mansion gets a complete overlay from exterior and queue to stretching room all the way through the whole ride. The end is actually my favorite part. The amount of change that happens here is pretty incredible. If you usually visit Walt Disney World, also like myself, the idea of a ride layover is kind of foreign as we don’t get much change around here. This was a highlight of our trip, everyone in the group loved it and we happily waited to see it multiple times.
Disneyland Halloween Food
I randomly came across a Foodie Guide to Halloween Time at Disneyland on the Disney Parks Blog and was surprised by how many seasonal food options there are. When I realized my trip dates matched up for me to be able to eat these goodies I was thrilled. I was happy with what we got to try on our short trip. Needless to say, I strayed from my usual vegan diet to explore this delicious magic. The photo above is a Mickey mummy macaron from the Jolly Holiday Bakery. It was good but my favorite thing was the pumpkin cheesecake from there. There’s actually so much Halloween and fall food at Disneyland that there’s an entire map dedicated to all the treats and foods to try. It was very helpful and fun to cross stuff off as we went.
A Musical Celebration of Coco
I wanted to tell you a really nice story about my experience at the Coco show. We left first aid and my husband wheeled me over. (My neck injury got the best of me at this point on the trip, hence, having no photos of this show.) But I was just happy to be there and Jim was amazing to me. We rolled up as the show was about to start and a Cast Member told us there was no more room and that we could watch on Instagram. LOL. Not taking that ridiculousness for an answer, Jim swung around to the other side of the audience where we saw a little opening I might have been able to see through. We asked a dad if he could move his stroller up a little so we could pass behind him. He kindly did so. The show was about to begin any minute. I saw the dad have a conversation with his wife, they looked back at us and proceeded to rearrange their whole set up so I could see better from my wheelchair. I get a little teary just thinking about this. I had a few really kind experiences like this on this Disneyland trip. People can be so wonderful. Immediately after, the show began and it was so fantastic. I loved every second. Coco is highly celebrated in our household and this was a highlight and must do for this visit. The colors, the dancing, the live music, the culture, the puppetry. A Musical Celebration of Coco is just so beautiful. We also enjoyed exploring the new Plaza de la Familia, pictured above, and Dia de los Muertos decorations and activities.
