Frozen Summer Fun 2015 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Frozen returns to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in full force for Frozen Summer Fun June 17th through September 7th. This time around there’s more Olaf which I’m definitely happy about. I went to Frozen Fun a lot last year and have tips and details to share in combo with the new offerings. I’m hoping this overview of the event helps you plan your day! Let’s get started and have a look at the Frozen Summer Fun 2015 schedule.Frozen Summer Fun sand art outside Hollywood Studios
Frozen Royal Welcome | 10:30 am & 1:30 pm
Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf make their way through the park in this tiny parade. The route covers from the front of the park, down Hollywood Blvd, passed the front of The Hyperion theater to the Star Tours attraction. The procession doesn’t end with a little singing at the stage like it did last year but stops multiple times along the way and the characters walk around in place. Once I stood on the corner by Mickey’s of Hollywood nearest the park entrance and Elsa stopped there. Another time I stood by my beloved green fountain near the end of Hollywood Blvd and Olaf stops there.
Olaf’s Summer Cool Down | 11:30 12:30 2:30 3:30 4:30 5:30
Olaf sings, dances and parades about the stage in the middle of the park with dancers and his dapper seagull friends from In Summer. Definitely cute and something you’ll want to fit into your day. However, the end of this show invites the audience to dance.. in the heat.. in the sun.. I’m good with just seeing the beginning of this. But Olaf looks amazing. He’s one of the greatest Disney sidekicks ever and his bubbly little personality lights up Hollywood Studios. (About 9 minutes)
For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration
9:30 11:30 12:30 2:30 3:30 4:30 5:30 6:30 7:30 8:30
This is more than what happens in your living room. Ya know. Just singing with the movie. The hysterical Arendelle historians add their flair to the Frozen story and, yes, Anna, Elsa and Kristoff make their way to the stage as well. The end of this is cute. This show moved from the Premier Theater in the back of the park to The Hyperion theater in the middle of the park but it’s still the same show. This is also available as a FastPass+ option and I was able to make a reservation for today when I just checked! If it’s important to you try to make your FastPass+ reservation sooner than the day of. (About 22 minutes long)
Just at the exit of the Frozen Sing-Along you’ll find yourself near a small outdoor merchandise shop. This is a new addition that came with The Hyperion theater becoming the Frozen Sing-Along venue. If you’re looking to get out get out of the heat for a bit, the Frozen Fever short will be playing in the ABC Sound Studio which is just outside the exit of the Frozen Sing-Along as well. (About 10 minutes)
For more Frozen merchandise check the store right behind the Trolley Car Cafe Starbucks location on Sunset Blvd. There are Elsa dresses, books, etc. For the cute Olaf cup pictured below ($10.75) visit the popcorn stand just outside the Animation Courtyard. Frozen Anna and Elsa Alex and Ani bracelets are available at the last shop on the left on Hollywood Blvd, Keystone Clothiers. The Elsa ears pictured below were at an outdoor merchandise stand next to the stage in the middle of the park but can be found at most of the other Frozen merchandise places mentioned. For Frozen Summer Fun treats try the Trolley Car Cafe Starbucks location in the front of the park for Olaf’s carrot cake cupcake or Elsa and Anna chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. There’s also a big screen just outside of this Starbucks that has showtimes and more on it. It’s a good place to regroup with a coffee. If you get a #CoffeeWithCharacter like me and Marilyn did below, hashtag it on Instagram to show me.
Frozen Fireworks Spectacular | 9:30 pm
This is part stage show, part fireworks. Beginning at 9:30 pm Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf appear on the stage for a few minutes before the fireworks begin and then for a minute or so after. You can get a great view of both by standing near the front of the stage. If you’d rather make a quick exit after the fireworks you can see the stage activity projected on the screen halfway down Hollywood Blvd and still get a great view of the fireworks. Around Echo lake (the water where Gertie the Dino resides) also has a nice view of the fireworks as it reflects off of the water. I am a big fan of fireworks at Hollywood Studios. Definitely stay for this if you can. (About 13 minutes long)
More Frozen Summer Fun Tips
The Coolest Summer Ever Dance Party happens from 5:45 to 9:30 pm at the stage with DJ Chill.
The Ice Men of the North will not be playing at the dance party but you can catch Mulch, Sweat n’ Shears on the Streets of America at 10:30, 11:55, 12:55, 3:10 and 4:15 with only the first three shows on Wednesdays. Double check the Times Guide to be sure. *wink*
Even though there are a lot of showings for the different Frozen offerings it can be a challenge to include everything you want to do in your Hollywood Studios day because so many show times overlap. I recommend using FastPass+ and taking a look at the show times for everything, including Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage and the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, etc. if you want to see those, to fit the most into your day.
Look at your Times Guide for closing times because some attractions, like Toy Story Midway Mania (!) and The Great Movie Ride, will close much earlier than the park does for firework safety purposes.
For firework viewing, many people sit down when they start waiting for the fireworks. This takes up more room than standing so when it’s close to show time and everyone stands there always seems to be room close up even though people are lined up all the way down Hollywood Blvd. So when you’re looking for a spot for the fireworks, don’t assume there is no room up front because people are lined up all the way down the street. Look closely in the area you want to stand and you just might see empty spaces and be able to wiggle in. The sides of the viewing area near the stage are reserved but anyone can stand in the middle.
There is a Frozen Summer Fun Premium Package for an additional cost. It buys you a reserved seat for the Frozen Royal Welcome, a reserved seat for one showing of the Frozen Sing-Along and a fireworks dessert party that has a reserved area near the front of the stage. It costs $69 per adult and $39 per child. It’s not really necessary as the lines have gone down for everything at Frozen Fun this time around.
Remember they do not have a meet and greet at Frozen Summer Fun but you can meet Anna and Elsa at Magic Kingdom.
Any of the aforementioned show times may change so check your Times Guide the day of your visit.
