When you wish upon a star.. wait that’s something else. But seeing these stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was like a dream come true. In all honesty, I had no idea such homage had been paid here to so many who have contributed to the Disney company. These stars on the sidewalk were always a picture of fame to me but I had to know more after seeing them for the first time. When did they start? Why? I discovered on walkoffame.com that in 1953 E. M. Stuart proposed the stars to “maintain the glory of a community whose name means glamour and excitement in the four corners of the world.” Stuart was a volunteer president of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Thanks to walkoffame.com I also came to know that Walt Disney was on the first Motion Picture Selection Committee helping to choose who would be honored in that category. Interesting! It was so special to see Walt’s own name on a star. Look who else has made their way to Hollywood Boulevard permanently..
