Very, very early on the first day of the 2013 D23 Expo, runDisney welcomed a limited number of runthusiasts to run 2.3 miles through Disney California Adventure. These 50 spots were highly coveted and filled up very quickly. Luckily I hit refresh on the Disney Parks Blog enough and got a spot.
I’ve run more runDisney races at Walt Disney World than I can count on my fingers, toes and ponytail but Disneyland is a different story. The D23 Fun Run was my first runDisney experience on the west coast. Disneyland Resort has become my ultimate vacation getaway and I want to keep it that way for now. Yes, runDisney races are fun but there is a certain amount of responsibility that comes with a race. Training, getting up early, following final race instructions like where to be and when, etc. Maybe some day I will go out for one of these gorgeous D medals! Until then the D23 Fun Run will be my special, one of a kind, running memory at Disneyland.
The D23 Fun Run started in front of the Anaheim Convention Center and took us into Disney California Adventure through a backstage entrance. We made our way through Cars Land and around Paradise Pier which were both absolutely lovely as the sun came up. A few of us really thought World of Color would be splashing for us but it wasn’t. There weren’t any characters in the park either but there was some neon! After our quick 2.3 miles we made it back where we started and were given a runDisney shopping bag with a vinylmation and race medal for the vinyl.
What a way to start off the D23 Expo! I was so happy to see and meet and run with some friends that morning. All the photos in this post are courtesy of runDisney which was a very nice treat. They even produced a video of the D23 Fun Run which you may see me in for a quick second..
I’m happy I got to participate in the runDisney D23 Fun Run. I’ve wanted to try one of these events for a while and am glad I at least got to do one. I’m not sure if a runDisney meet-up is something I would want to do again. It was really just a run through the park which you already do if you participate in runDisney events. The real difference here is.. no medal. If you want to see more from this event I did a little vlogging on the run in vlog #3..
Fun recap, N! 😀 Hope you change your mind about Disneyland Half in the future (or Tink) because they are MAGICAL for sure <3

Thanks, Krissy! If I was out there more I definitely would! I just got back from an 8 day trip and don’t know how I could have squeezed anything else in. haha. Hopefully one day. The D medal is so pretty!
That looked like fun! Love your socks 😀
