Aladdin is one of Disney’s movies I treasure the most. I rewound and rewatched the shimmering, jewel toned tape as a wee one. Then arabian nights made a comeback this year with the 2019 live action remake. As of today the live action Aladdin and the animated classic are now available on Blu-ray+DVD and 4K and digitally! I’ve watched the live action movie at home.. a few times now.. and I like it even more than when I saw it in the theater. The colors of the streets of Agrabah and A Whole New World scene are my current favorites.
To celebrate the movie release, I got try Painting with a Twist for the first time at a blogger event! If you haven’t tried this experience, let me share this whole new world with you. It’s basically a painting class and I think the ‘twist’ is that there’s wine available for purchase. We painted the a whole new world scene from Aladdin. I LOVED IT. I was thrilled when I saw the painting we were doing. Disney paintings are occasionally offered to celebrate movie releases. It happens when Disney hires Painting with a Twist corporate to design and offer these so they are official! I looked on the Painting with a Twist Orlando Instagram (@PWATOrlando) and saw quite a few different Disney offerings from this year alone!
Here’s how it works: You can look online and see what paintings they have coming up on the schedule and pick one you like. It’s $35 per person and you can sign up online. Everything that you need is provided! Canvas, easel, paints, brushes, water cup, apron, napkins and a nice set up to sit at. Ours was a three hours experience with breaks. I was curious how my sometimes cranky neck would do and being to alternate between sitting and standing was great.
At the end I felt like a shooting star because I love my painting so much! I got so many compliments when I shared it on Instagram. Here’s my secret. I bet yours would be just as good! The painting instructor really goes step by step. You can ask for help or just do your own take.
