8 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Tips

Disclosure: I was invited to experience this event.Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party Sparkly Nicole

It’s the most wonderful time of the year at the most magical place on earth! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom is one of the highlights of the season. I put together this round up of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party tips to help you enjoy the event to the fullest.

1. The castle lighting show, A Frozen Holiday Wish, happens twice each night: once before the party starts and once after. The second one will have less people in attendance so you may be able to get a better spot if you want to see it up close. This short show features characters from Frozen but the real stunner is the castle. It looks beautiful lighting up as it twinkles and dances for just a moment. I recommend pausing to take this in, even from afar in passing!

2. Spend time on Main Street U.S.A! It’s the most festive part of the park. You can catch snow, the foamy soap kind, intermittently throughout the night. It really comes down!

3. Make the most of your time and experience the special holiday offerings by picking a strategic viewing spot. To watch Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime parade, we sat in the hub in front of the castle. From our seat we were able to see the Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration stage show and were in the neighborhood for watching the new fireworks show too.

4. You can meet Disney characters in their “winter wear.” I went to see some princesses at Princess Fairytale Hall in Fantasyland and they also had their love interests with them! Tiana’s little winter shawl was the cutest and we had fun chatting with Naveen. The wait was very short unlike other special meet and greets at the party.

5. In 2019, a new fireworks show debuted at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks is a sweet combination of projections that transform the castle and fireworks the sparkle in the sky. Without giving anything away, I’ll tell you I loved the selection of songs. Especially the last one! The best place to watch the show is on Main Street anywhere in between Casey’s Corner and the Walt Disney statue.

6. If you enter the party by going to the right when you enter the park and walking behind Main Street U.S.A. you’ll be given a special treat to start off the night.

7. Treats! What’s a holiday party without delicious food? All around Magic Kingdom you’ll find unlimited, complimentary treats. I prefer to eat a plant based diet and found there were some fun options for me like a snowman pretzel near Pirates of the Caribbean! I might have gone back for seconds. Mickey’s Very Merry used to offer snickerdoodles cookies and hot chocolate but now there’s much more! A few years ago the event began offering a few different treats. You can see a full event foodie guide here on the Disney Parks Blog but here the complementary ones they listed:

  • Pinocchio Village Haus: Snickerdoodle Cookie, Hot Chocolate, and Fanta
  • Storybook Snacks Cart: Snowman Pretzel
  • Miner’s Cove: Peppermint Cookie
  • Friar’s Nook: Chocolate Chip Cookie
  • Lunching Pad: Ginger Molasses Cookie and Apple Cider
  • Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café: Peppermint Cookie, Hot Chocolate, and Apple Cider
  • Jungle Cruise: Ginger Molasses Cookie
  • Tortuga Tavern: Snowman Pretzel and Fanta
  • Golden Oak Outpost: Snickerdoodle Cookie
  • Diamond Horseshoe: Chocolate Chip Cookie and Eggnog

8. This is my final tip and it’s the most important. Just being at Walt Disney World with your loved ones at Christmas time is really special. Don’t get too caught up in getting the perfect spot, the perfect photo or experiencing every last bit of magic that you forget to take in the special little moments. Some of my favorite memories happen when I’m sitting and waiting for a show with my husband or holding hands in line.
