Christopher Robin (Ewan McGregor) with his long time friend Winnie the Pooh in Disney’s live-action adventure CHRISTOPHER ROBIN.

I Always Get to Where I’m Going By Walking Away From Where I’ve Been.”

-Winnie the Pooh

Deep in the hundred acre wood, where Christopher Robin played, there’s a new story to be told. A grown up Christopher Robin no longer carries a red balloon but a brief case instead. It seems he’s forgotten the importance of play and imagination and in this film we see him visit with his old friends when he needs them most.

I found this film to be relatable on a few levels. When we grow up, work and other serious things can take the lead in life. In Christopher Robin we see this happen and it’s kind of a downer. The message overall is a very important one but it kind of hurts to see it unfold.

However, I left this movie stuffed with good feelings thanks to Winnie the Pooh’s wisdom. This little toy really has a way with words. He may be a silly, willy, nilly old bear but his innocence and purity get you right in the soul. This movie is also a British delight! I love English things and the accents and visuals in Christopher Robin are lovely.

Legendary voice artist Jim Cummings voices Winnie the Pooh, and Tigger too, in this film and Dr. Who fans will be delighted to know Peter Capaldi voices Rabbit. Christopher Robin is in theaters August 3rd, 2018.
