The Orlando Eye

The Orlando Eye | SparklyEverAfter.comI heard the announcement and watched The Orlando Eye come to life as it was built. I’d pass it going here and there on I-4 and my eyes lit up when I’d see it by surprise from somewhere new. My favorite is when I’m in the Dr. Phillips area and it just pops into view. A ferris wheel has always been a positive symbol to me. When I was a child it represented the temporary excitement of carnivals, fairs and rides. It stood as a symbol high above everything else and gave the best view at the event. As an adult I get excited to see one of these big, spinning beauties because I enjoy photographing them. The Orlando Eye, actually an observation wheel–the seating, structure and view are different, is now a permanent symbol of fun here in Orlando.

A ride on The Orlando Eye is 18 to 20 minutes long and filled views of Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, SeaWorld, Downtown Orlando and other neighboring attractions from 400 feet up. On a clear day you can see Cape Canaveral. Flights consist of one rotation. The wheel rotates slow enough for passengers to board while it’s in motion. Each capsule fits up to 15 people and is comfortably air conditioned. There is a bench inside but you’ll want to be standing at the windows I’m sure.
