What I Love About Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

The happiest of memories happen at Disney Parks and at Christmas time. Combining the two makes for an incredible night. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party gives me the chills and it’s not because of the snow on Main Street U.S.A. This already magical park overflows with holiday cheer at this event through shows, parades, fireworks and more. Here’s what I love about Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

Celebrate the Season at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

Disney Parks are decorated in absolute splendor during the holidays. Miles of lights, wreaths bigger than a sleigh and ornaments that compliment every aspect of this themed resort. However, if you want an evening filled with celebrating Christmas at Walt Disney World, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is the answer. The Celebrate the Season show graces the stage in front of Cinderella Castle a few times nightly and features beloved Disney characters and Christmas characters alike. I love the dancers and costumes in this show.

Even the Celebrate the Magic castle projection show, which you can catch before or after the fireworks, has a holiday tag added to it. Heart eyes. This short addition gives me all the feels and is one of my favorite Christmas details at Magic Kingdom. The real star on the tree is Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season. It brings all the magic of Wishes to the sky but celebrates Christmas in a spectacular way. The soundtrack is so cheery and whimsical. It’s become part of my Christmas playlist thanks to the glory of YouTube videos. There’s nothing like seeing it in person and I was absolutely giddy over it!

Just like any good holiday party, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party brings the treats. Help yourself to complimentary sugar cookies and hot cocoa at various stations around the kingdom. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party also offers treats of another kind. This event is a great place to meet characters you don’t normally see around the park. Jack Skellington meets guests in his Sandy Claws outfit at the Storybook Circus. He has a lot to say and I loved talking to him. We waited about 15 minutes to meet him after 11:00 pm. All Seven Dwarfs appear in holiday attire for meet and greets too! Even if you don’t wait in line to meet them, you’ll see a fantastical array of Disney and Christmas characters in Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade. The toy soldiers always amaze me. The second offering of this parade is always a better option when it comes to getting a great spot.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Planning Tips

Overall, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party felt very much less crowded than a regular Magic Kingdom day visit. There are less people and no FastPass+ available so the wait times for rides were very short! If you plan on going on rides I would come early. There is so much to see that is only at the Christmas Party that it will all easily fill your night, especially as you plan to see shows, the parade and fireworks. The schedule that worked well for me this year was seeing Holiday Wishes from just behind The Hub then heading straight up to get a seat for Celebrate the Season. As crowds from the fireworks cleared out, spots on the parade route opened up so we were able to get a seat right in front of the castle that we could see Celebrate the Season from and were front row for the parade in. Perfect! This gave us a lot of time before and after to do other things around the park. It’s easy to lose time in transit when you’re making your way back and forth across Magic Kingdom.
