You Must See Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Captain America The Winter Soldier Movie PosterThese Marvel movies are no longer about the protagonist. Each one becomes more of a look at what’s going on in this universe with the title character leading the action. Another layer of this story is added with the recent addition of the Agents of Shield show. I’ve been watching it since the beginning. It’s fascinating how Shield has everything to do with these movies but exists completely on its own with hardly any character overlap. They are totally separate but completely intertwined. With Captain America: The Winter Soldier, we see how the recent events play out in the movie and how they explain and affect what’s been going on in Sheild. Even if you’re not into Captain America (this sequel is better than the predecessor by the way) you’re required to see this movie to keep up with what’s going on in Avengertown.. and you won’t regret it.

For me, this movie was on par with Marvel’s The Avengers. I know those are strong words but I stand behind it. The action scenes are more than choreography or staged combat. They are an art form of their own. Car chases that weave through cities with intricate and thoughtful attention to detail, technology and characters we feel like we know combine to surpass paramount suspense and filmmaking. Sure, some things may seem unbelievable but if there were super humans in the real world how would they act? What would their response time be in times of crisis? Captain America: The Winter Soldier lets our imaginations run free.

I joked with my boyfriend about how I feel bad for kids of the future because of this series of movies. When I was a kid and the Back to the Future trilogy was referred to as a must-watch, I thought three movies was a lot to catch up on. To watch these movies you have to start with 2008’s Iron Man and work your way through.. a lot. But it’s all good and worth it, including Captain America: The Winter Soldier.Captain America The Winter Soldier Review
