There may not be an actual beach for miles but Cabana Bay Beach Resort provides lots of fun in the sun. The lobby separates two large courtyards with different options for swimming. To the right of the lobby is the Cabana Courtyard. This area houses a zero entry pool with a dive board themed water slide. If you like to feel the sand between your toes, there is a section of lounge chairs placed in sand in the Cabana Courtyard. Nestled here in the middle of the Starlight, Thunderbird and Castaway buildings is also a hot tub and water play area for children. This side of the hotel is where the movies play at night, projected onto a big screen in a grassy area.

On the left side of the hotel between the Continental and Americana buildings is the Lazy River Courtyard. Home to another zero entry pool and, you guessed it, the lazy river. We thought the Cabana Bay Beach Resort lazy river was a decent size and really fun with misters and waterfalls along the way. I kept stopping under the waterfalls and letting the water massage my shoulders. So nice. You can buy a floaty tube there or bring your own. This side also has Hideaway Bar & Grill, perfect for poolside eats. I had chicken fingers and I approve.

We spent two half days relaxing outside at the pools. Having two different areas to choose from added a lot to the resort. I’ve seen many hotels have a main pool area where all the action and theme seems to happen and then one or more other pools that are just.. pools. I really liked that the Cabana Bay Beach Resort pools were themed all around and each side was different. Lush landscaping and design really added to the atmosphere and I can’t wait to go back. If you’re vacationing at Universal Orlando Resort, your schedule is probably packed with theme park fun but I would try and allow time for the resort if you want to relax. If you’re thinking of spending a day before and/or after your time at the parks to enjoy the resort, you can certainly fill your day(s) with fun here.

Disclosure: I was invited as a guest of Universal Orlando to experience a blogger event on behalf of SparklyEverAfter.com. Hotel, ticket and meal accommodations were provided.
