Blue Man Group Orlando Review

Blue Man Group OrlandoBlue Man Group Orlando Review

Over ten years ago I took a very memorable trip to New York City. It was a high school drama trip. Twentyish starry-eyed teenagers saw a crazy amount of shows in a week. Wicked, Hairspray, Gypsy and The Boy from Oz to name a few. The week was so overwhelming I fell asleep on the “highlight of the trip” as my drama teacher would have called it. Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in The Producers and I took a snooze in the balcony. One of the outstanding memories of this trip was seeing Blue Man Group off Broadway. I thought surely this had to be near the beginning of this show’s existence but I was recently surprised to find out Blue Man Group first wowed guests at this theater in 1991. The blue guys are still drumming away at the Astor Place Theatre in New York City today and the show has expanded. Quite a bit.

Orlando is a colorful palette of amusement and Blue Man Group is a bright hue in the array of colors. The Blue Man Group venue at Universal Orlando Resort sits right next to the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit just outside the entrance of Universal Studios Florida. It’s performance art at it’s finest. It’s hard to explain the act but paint, drummers and technology is a good start. Though the theater is filled with the sound of explosive, entrancing music no words are spoken by the performers. Even without words the Blue Man Group says so much. The audience bonds just by watching the show. This comedic trio keeps onlookers intrigued and has timing that triggers giggles over and over again. My favorite part comes at the end of the show. It’s a colorful time where you can really let your imagination run wild and laugh about your.. seat. The Blue Man Group delivers excellent sounds, bizarre and impressive talents and, overall, a show that will leave you talking about it after.
